Highlighter Emphasizes Texture

Highlighter emphasizes texture when shimmer catches bumps, pores, or dry patches. A smoother placement and softer formula keeps glow from looking rough.

The fix

Save
  1. moisturize dry areas before makeup and let them settle
  2. choose a satin or fine-shimmer highlighter instead of chunky glitter
  3. place highlighter slightly above textured pores, not directly on them
  4. mist lightly if powder highlighter looks dry

If it’s still not right

  • Use a cream highlighter tapped lightly if powder looks rough.
  • Highlight the eyes, lips, or shoulders instead of textured cheek areas.

Prevent it next time

  • Keep heavy powder away from the high points you plan to highlight.
  • Test highlighter in side light, not only straight-on bathroom light.

Notes

Why this works

Glow is controlled reflection. When the reflective particles are large or placed over uneven skin, they make every raised spot more obvious.

Moving the placement and switching to a finer sheen gives a similar brightening effect without spotlighting texture.

Substitutions

  • Instead ofsubtle highlighterdewy primer tapped on high points
  • Instead ofsetting sprayhydrating mist used sparingly
