Eyeliner Skips Over Creased Lids
Eyeliner skips over creased lids when the skin is too dry, oily, or mobile for one long stroke. Short strokes over a set base create a cleaner line.

The fix
- prime the lid and let it set before liner
- make tiny dashes along the lash line instead of dragging one long line
- connect the dashes with a small angled brush
- set the line with matching matte shadow if it transfers
If it’s still not right
- Use a softer pencil if liquid liner keeps catching.
- Tightline the upper lashes instead of drawing a thick line above them.
Prevent it next time
- Keep eye cream off the lash line before liner.
- Sharpen pencils so they do not drag.
Notes
Why this works
Liner needs a stable surface. On mobile or creased lids, dragging a pen or pencil can skip over texture and leave gaps.
Small dashes follow the shape of the eye without pulling the skin. Smudging or setting with shadow softens tiny imperfections while keeping the lash line defined.
